Hands On Camera Workshops

How Do I Use This Thing?

This will cover basic functions and knowledge of a DSLR camera.  This is limited to 5 people.  It is a sit down session in my home that will go over the basics of how to use your camera.

If you have a general knowledge of how to use your camera, this could still be helpful especially if you rely on auto modes.

This is a 2 hour workshop.  You will need your camera, a memory card, a fully charged battery, and a notebook.

Manual Mode / Exposure

Still letting the camera think for you?  Sure, it's great, but you should have all the control.  Have you ever wondered why your photos are too bright, too dark, too grainy?  It's probably because you are letting the camera do all the thinking for you.  In this 2 hour course, I will teach you how to push your camera to the tasks it was meant to do.  We will go over a few algorithms to help you understand exposure and why it is so important.

You will need your camera, a memory card, a fully charged battery, a notebook, and an object you'd like to photograph.  This workshop will be in my home.

Photo Composition / Focus

Have you ever looked at a photo and immediately the subject pops out at you?  Maybe the lighting on the subject draws you in, or the background is blurred to make the subject pop.  Did you know that this is most likely on purpose?  The photographer makes this happen to make the photo more appealing.  Sure, sometimes it is completely accidental, but usually, it takes a little planning.  You will need your camera, a memory card, a fully charged  battery, a notebook, and an object to photograph.

Downtown Modeling Session

This session will focus on actually applying all the tips you've learned.  It will also make you think on your feet.  In real life, things aren't so easy to shoot.  There are people and objects you must work around.  This will help you to understand how to get the shot you want without moving heaven and Earth to do it.   You will need your camera, a memory card, a fully charged battery, and your imagination.
